Self-driving startup pitch simulation tool to follow Waymo

Paris: France's Saft, a unit of Energy Company Total, is hoping that its four-way European battery alliance will start mass production of new generation lithium-ion batteries from the beginning of 2020.

Soft, Siemens, Solve and Manz worked together in February to develop high-density liquid electrolyte lithium-ion and solid-state batteries in the race against most Asian players.

Jean-Baptist Pernaut, the operations director of the SAFE told Reuters, "The performance levels we target are much better than us today, we are seeing 50 percent better performance levels in terms of energy density."

In the first half of 2020, the goal of the coalition is to start mass production of the third-generation liquid electrolyte lithium-ion battery, Pernot said.
