The country largest two wheeler Hero MotoCorp is losing its former partner Honda in the automated scooter segment. Honda enjoys about 60% market share in the scooter segment, while Hero hardly registers its presence in space with a share of 10.42%.
In addition, during April to September this year, Hero MotoCorp's scooter sales declined by 12% (3.43 lakh units), while the segment recorded a growth of 5%. Therefore, Hero needs to strengthen his scooter portfolio if he wants to keep pace with Honda charging. The company recently launched Hero Destiny 125, in which the scooter count was four (the other three pleasures, Duet and Maestro).
At present, 125 cc scooters account for 20% of the entire scooter segment, but this sub-segment is important because it has increased at an impressive speed of 75% from April this year.
Economic Times reports that Hero MotoCorp is planning to have at least 6 scooter models in its product lineup over the next 8-12 months. The fifth product will be Maestro Edge 125, which will be offered before the end of this financial year. 6th is considered a new 110 cc scooter in the next financial year.
