India, March 13, 2019 : Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is one of the most famous multi-purpose vehicles in India. The company had launched the second generation Ertiga in India in November 2018. Now, there are claims that the country's largest carmaker is planning to discontinue Ertiga's petrol (LXI) and diesel (LDI) base variants. The Maruti Ertiga LDI was priced at Rs. 8.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Buyers who have booked the Ertiga LDI in February will get their cars delivered soon.
The petrol-powered Ertiga will continue to be available in four variants: LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+.
According to a report, Maruti Suzuki India has asked the company dealerships to not accept bookings for the base variants of Ertiga and reveals that the 2018 Ertiga LDI will be discontinued from 1 April 2019. A higher demand for the other variants of the multi-purpose vehicle might the reason behind the discontinuation of Ertiga LXI and LDI. However, there is no official word from the carmaker regarding the same.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is available with two engine options. The 1.5-litre petrol motor churns out 103 bhp of power and 138 Nm of torque, while the 1.3-litre diesel mill is good for 90 bhp of power and 200 Nm of peak torque. The petrol and diesel engines are mated to a five speed manual gearbox, with the former having an option for an automatic transmission as well. The company claims fuel efficiency figures of 19.34 kmpl and 18.69 kmpl, respectively, for the manual and automatic petrol variants of Ertiga. The diesel version returns with mileage figure of 25.47 kmpl, as claimed by Maruti Suzuki India.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga displays a bold personality with projector headlamps, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX/ child seat anchorages, front seat belts with pre-tensioner and 3D tail lamps with LEDs. The smart flexi-seating, along with third row recliner seats and second row air conditioning, enhances the in-cabin experience. Ertiga challenges the likes of Mahindra Marazzo, Toyota Innova Crysta and Ranault Lodgy.
